Friday, April 11th, 7:30am – WMUK (NPR, 102.1 FM, www.wmuk.org) aired our 2nd radio documentary story in our series about LGBT identity and acceptance during Morning Edition. We rushed to get it done to line up with the Day of Silence, an annual day of action to protest the bullying and harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students and supporters.. The piece, “One Day in Michigan” is a collage of experiences from newly married gay couples and their allies at the Washtenaw County Courthouse on Sat. March 22nd. The piece celebrates the day, the community, and the experience created as a result. Listen to the piece here!
I have been doing so much performing elsewhere that it is a real treat to perform in my hometown of Kalamazoo. I am thrilled to be part of the great line up for the 2nd Annual Storytelling Festival: One World, Many Stories at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum. I will be performing songs and stories for a family audience Saturday, February 1st from 1-1:45. I’ll be sharing a mix of personal narrative, traditional tales and original songs. My good friend, and fabulous storyteller, Yvonne Healy is on from 12-12:45. Come on down!
